I Can't Believe It's May

Mr. Koep’s Weekly Blog: Yesterday the seniors were trying on gowns in the office – where did the year go? It is hard to believe it is already May and graduation is only 3 weeks from today. In case you didn’t receive news regarding the end of the school year at the April Board Meeting the School Board approved moving the last day of school to May 22. It was originally scheduled May 27 but since we didn’t use any snow days and we are 5 days above the state minimum number of required days we felt it was best for our students and families to end on the 22nd. We are still waiting on legislation regarding when school can start but we are leaning towards keeping as it always is so we will probably start after Labor Day which will be September 6th. Our strategic plan committee had our final meeting this week and we finalized our plan which we will bring to the board for approval in May. It was a very successful process as 14 of us meet on 4 occasions totaling about 8 hours and we developed a mission statement, 5 core values, and action plans to meet each value. Once the plan is approved we will place it on our school website for people to see – our proposed mission statement is: Encouraging students to reach their full potential in a safe, accepting environment in partnership with students, staff, families, and community members. The weather has been beautiful all week and it looks like it will continue into most of the weekend so I hope everyone gets a chance to get outside and enjoy the nice spring weather.
